Mountain View

Bustling Silicon Valley tech hub on the shores of San Francisco Bay.

Welcome to Mountain View

Mountain View is a Silicon Valley hub famous for being the site of the sprawling Googleplex, Google’s enormous main campus on the shores of the San Francisco Bay. This bustling city is named for the fantastic views it enjoys of the surrounding Santa Cruz Mountains. Residents within this forward-thinking city enjoy a strong sense of community, and many bikes to work at the many locally headquartered hi-tech companies. Homes are located on quiet residential streets and represent a wide range of architectural styles, from classic mid-century modern California ranches to stylish, contemporary apartments and single-family homes.

A wide array of cuisines and excellent restaurants can be in Mountain View. ViVe Sol, for traditional Mexican, for Latin tapas, Cascal is a standout and for sushi and sashimi, Sushi Tomi. Downtown's Castro Street is full of international restaurants, laid-back coffee shops, and upscale nightlife spots.

Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheatre hosts music concerts, stand-up comedy shows, and other events from big-name acts in an outdoor setting overlooking San Francisco Bay. The Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular is Shoreline’s most popular annual event. Celebrate the Fourth by watching the grand fireworks display with musical accompaniment by the San Francisco Symphony. Shoreline Amphitheatre is located within the expansive outdoor space of Shoreline Park. Paved and unpaved trails for hiking, jogging, and biking wind through the park, which features at its center the 50-acre Shoreline Lake. An aquatics center on the lake’s eastern shore offers a range of water-based activities. Mountain View holds a number of other fun events, such as September’s Art & Wine Festival, where you can feast on artisanal food and drinks, and the free Concerts on the Plaza concert series on Castro Street during the summer. Mountain View’s long-standing central role in the global tech scene is commemorated in the fascinating Computer History Museum.

Local public schools include Bubb and Huff Elementary Schools, Graham Middle School, and Mountain View High School.
