Welcome to San Carlos
San Carlos is a private, prestigious community nestled between Belmont and Redwood City on the San Francisco Bay shoreline. Exactly equidistant between San Francisco and San Jose, San Carlos is popular for its top public schools, quiet residential streets, and attractive, walkable downtown. San Carlos rises from the San Francisco Bay into the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills, and some of its most sought-after properties enjoy epic elevated views of the Bay Area. There is a mixture of well-maintained mid-century modern single-family homes and uniquely stylish contemporary custom-built homes in San Carlos.
San Carlos has a lively downtown district, with great places to dine along El Camino Real and the parallel streets of Laurel Street and Walnut Street. Town
pairs high-quality steaks and seafood with an extensive West Coast wine selection. Johnston’s Saltbox
uses locally sourced produce to prepare sublime seasonal New American dishes. The Refuge
combines world-leading Belgian beers with ultratender, flavorful pastrami sandwiches. Stamp Bar and Grill
serves Mexican-influenced New American small plates; its delectable lamb riblets come highly recommended. There’s also a Trader Joe’s here for groceries.
One of several neighborhood green spaces, Burton Park
has a kid-friendly water spray play area, picnic tables, and sports facilities. Eight free Music in the Park
concerts is held on Friday nights at Burton Park throughout the summer. San Carlos also hosts the Art & Wine Faire
in October, which features award-winning local wines, live bands, street performers, international cuisine, and a classic car show. Late November’s Night of Holiday Lights
brightens up Laurel Street with music and family-friendly activities. A year-round Farmers’ Market
takes place on Laurel Street each Sunday, with fresh produce, food vendors, and live music.
Local public schools include Brittan Acres and White Oaks Elementary Schools, Tierra Linda Middle School, and Carlmont High School.
